2017 Dodge Demon Demonic

Demonic: A Reimagined Dodge Demon Crosses the Block at Sullivan Auctioneers Collector Car Auction

When it comes to collector cars, few names stir excitement quite like Dodge Demon — and even fewer builds live up to their name as fiercely as this one.

Featured on the cover of Mopar Action Magazine in June 2018, this head-turning custom known as “Demonic” is a one-of-a-kind reimagining of the classic 1971 Dodge Demon. It’s a car that blends vintage soul with modern ferocity, representing more than 2,500 hours of meticulous craftsmanship, vision, and passion. Now, this standout machine is making its way to the auction block during the Sullivan Auctioneers Collector Car Auction, October 27–28, 2025.

A Nod to the Original 1971 Dodge Demon

To appreciate what makes Demonic so special, you have to start with the car that inspired it.

When Dodge introduced the Demon in 1971, it was a bold move. Built on the Dart platform, the Demon was Dodge’s entry into the muscle car wars — a compact, lightweight, and affordable performance car that delivered big power for its size. Its devilish branding, complete with a cartoon demon on the fenders, caught plenty of attention in its day (and some controversy, too).

Under the hood, buyers could choose anything from a 198-cubic-inch Slant Six to the potent 340 V8, capable of delivering 275 horsepower — a serious figure for the time in a car that weighed under 3,000 pounds. The combination of agility, attitude, and affordability made the 1971 Demon a cult favorite among Mopar enthusiasts.

But the Demonic takes everything that made the original great and amplifies it into something entirely new.

Reengineered to the Extreme

While it retains the unmistakable lines of a ’71 Demon, nearly every other component on this car has been reimagined, rebuilt, or replaced. The result? A car that captures the aggressive spirit of the original while harnessing the raw performance and precision of modern muscle.

At its heart is a prototype 6.4L/800hp supercharged Demon Hemi engine — a rare and storied powerplant in its own right. This documented prototype was once reported stolen but later cleared and legally purchased by the car’s builder, Dave Fasin. Mated to a 4L85E automatic transmission, the combination delivers explosive performance while maintaining reliability on the road.

Performance continues with coil-over suspension on all four corners, ventilated disc brakes, and a custom aluminum fuel tank. The stance is pure aggression, riding on 20-inch American Racing wheels in the rear and 18-inch fronts, wrapped in Mickey Thompson performance tires.

A Look That Stops Traffic

The car’s two-tone green metallic paint isn’t just eye-catching — it’s flawless. It perfectly complements the sculpted lines of the classic Demon body, giving a nod to its 1970s roots while feeling entirely at home among modern performance builds. The HID headlights, single-piece aluminum grille, and subtle modern touches make it look as if it rolled out of both a restoration shop and a concept design studio.

Inside, the transformation continues. The cabin features black leather upholstery, contoured racing seats with 5-point harnesses, and updated AutoMeter gauges. Every element feels performance-driven yet refined, from the leather-wrapped steering wheel to the thoughtful layout of the controls.

From Magazine Cover to Auction Stage

The Demonic wasn’t just built to be driven — it was built to be remembered. Its striking design and incredible backstory earned it a feature cover story in Mopar Action Magazine in June 2018, where it was hailed as one of the most ambitious and successful re-creations of a Dodge Demon ever attempted.

Now, this very car — titled as a 2017 with a state-issued VIN — is set to make headlines once again as it goes under the hammer at the Sullivan Auctioneers Collector Car Auction in Carthage, Illinois. With only 3,058 miles showing, it’s as fresh as it is fierce.

A True One-Off for the Collector Who Has Everything

In the world of collector cars, originality often steals the spotlight. But sometimes, it’s innovation — the courage to push boundaries — that creates true icons. Demonic embodies both. It honors the 1971 Demon’s legacy while demonstrating what’s possible when performance engineering meets artistic vision.

For collectors who crave something singular, documented, and magazine-worthy, this is an opportunity that won’t come again.
